Hitman Absolution, the fifth game in The Hitman Series has been officially announced and will be shown behind closed doors at this year’s E3. The E3 Expo is June 7th-9th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Hitman is a stealth game series developed by the Danish company IO Interactive. The series is available on PC as well as several video game consoles, including the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. It has been 5 years since the last Hitman game Hitman: Blood Money, was released.
Agent 47 is once again the Hitman game’s main character. A press release about Hitman Absolution reveals that Hitman Absolution tells a more personal story than previous games. Agent 47 has been betrayed and is now being pursued by the police as he “finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy”.
“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy,” said director Tore Blystad of IO Interactive. “This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world.”
An announcement trailer for Hitman 5: Absolution was released by IO Interactive on May 10, 2011. It briefly shows Agent 47 attaching a silencer and a rattle snake coiled around his Silverballer pistol. The trailer ends showing Hitman 47’s barcode. With the promise of stealth play that Hitman is well known for, fans will have to wait until the E3 Expo to see promised new features game players are sure to enjoy. Hitman Absolution is set for release in 2012, and will be on PlayStation3, Xbox 360, and PC.
