Jenny Craig was started in Melbourne, Australia in 1983 and moved to the United States in 1985. In 2006, the company became a part of Nestlé Nutrition. As I mentioned in my previous article on, Jenny Craig was recently the winner of two different studies conducted by Consumer Reports. These awards were for best tasting and best overall diet. The best overall diet study took into consideration results the overall effect on weight loss, adherence, and how well they followed the 2010 U.S. dietary guidelines for Americans.

The company operates more than 600 weight loss centers. They are primarily in the USA, but also in Canada, Australia, Puerto Rico, and New Zealand. The program combines individual weight management counseling with a menu of foods which are distributed through Jenny Craig centers or shipped directly to consumers. Jenny Craig offers weight loss programs tailored to the needs of men, women, seniors, and diabetics. The Jenny Craig weight management program combines nutrition and physical activity with weight loss counseling. These services help clients change their lifestyle and eating habits. The final goal of Jenny Craig’s program is for users to reach their desired weight levels and be in a position where they no longer have to rely on the weight loss program’s prepackaged food, planning menus or consultations in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Jenny Craig users are provided with private counseling sessions with program consultants. These program consultants are trained by Jenny Craig Inc. to be able to educate and support to its users. Members of Jenny Craig join one of several plans. They are then able to purchase the Jenny Craig prepackaged food from a local center or chilled food by mail from the Jenny Craig At Home Program.
